Important News and Frequently asked questions for the Universal Orlando Resorts 3v3 Challenge National CHAMPIONSHIPFAQ - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Here are answers to some of the questions we have been asked about the
tournament.
Q -
Can a player play on more than one team during the Championship
A - No, one team only.
Some tournaments allow players to play on more than 1 team as long as
they are not in the same age group. At Challenge Sports we
believe that playing on more than 1 team can overwork a young player
and is not a good practice.
Q -
How will the schedules be set
up?
A - Saturday will
consist primarily of round robin qualifying games for all
Divisions.
Sunday will have a continuation of qualifying games in some age groups
as well as elimination games leading to the Championships. To
minimize the possible impact of weather on the games, we will be
starting at 8AM on Saturday. While we usually try to have a
later start on Sunday to make it possible for those who want to attend
worship services, we will start early on Sunday. This will help
minimize the potential weather impact on Sunday games and it will also
give the teams that have a long trip home a chance to arrive home at a
reasonable hour.
A - Teams that placed in
the top 4 teams of their division in a qualifying tournament, or are
defending champions from the 2002 Championship are eligible to enter.
The team must have at least 3 players from the roster of the team that
qualified. The only exception to this requirement is for
Divisions where we have less than 3 entries. In those
Divisions we will accept "at large" applications from teams that do
not meet the above requirements.
Q - Is the Maximum Roster size 5
or 6? Some qualifying tournaments allowed only 5
A - The standard maximum roster
size for all Challenge 3v3s is 6. Teams that played in the South Florida
or Tampa Super Challenges or qualified in one of the associate
tournaments, you may have seen a 5 player maximum. For the
Championship the maximum roster size is 6.
Q - Can a goal be scored from anywhere on the field ?
A - In order to be a goal the ball
must be last touched in the OFFENSIVE half of the field.
Q - What determines if a team
belongs in the Comp or Rec Division?
A - To enter the Rec Division a
team may not have any players on its roster who are currently playing
on a club, elite, premier, or select competition team, or who have
played on one of those teams in the last year. Any team with one or
more competitive player on the roster must enter the COMP Division.
Q - Who has to be at Check-in?
A - Check-in for the Championship
will be
5:30 to 8:00 at
Andretti Thrill Park
, close to Southwest Park. We ask that
each team ( including all players ) attend the check-in to get their
tshirts and ID. We are not planning to check teams in Saturday
morning. Andretti will provide
some free game tokens & coupons for players and coaches may want to practice for the
coaches challenge that will be held Saturday night.
Q - Can I change my roster after I
send it in
A - Yes, the final roster is defined
by the Final Roster Waiver form you are to bring to check-in.
The final roster must still have at least 3 players from the roster of the
team that qualified
Q - How many games are we
guaranteed?
A - At least 4 possibly 5 or 6 for
divisions with a lot of teams
Q - How do I get to Andretti Thrill
Park and Southwest Park for Check-in and games? (we do have quite a few
teams traveling a long way to play)
A - We have a link on our web site
showing the location of both parks.
Q - When will schedules be available
A- Our plan is to publish the
schedules by Thursday night June 5th.
Q- Can we still enter teams?
A - To accommodate teams
that qualified in Lancaster Pennsylvania or Carrollton Georgia on May 17/18,
we have extended the entry deadline.
Q - Is there a hotel close to
the fields for those of us who are coming a long way?
you at the Super Challenge!
Q- How can teams that qualify in the
Jacksonville Super Challenge enter the Championship? The Tournament is
after the deadline to enter.
A - Teams that qualify in the
Jacksonville Super Challenge will have a special extension of the deadline to
Monday June 2nd at 8PM. This is a firm deadline and will apply only to
teams that qualify that weekend.
Q- I coach two teams. In the
past I have been able to have the teams scheduled so that I could coach both
teams in all their games. Will this be possible for this tournament.
A - We try to help coaches of more
than 1 team be able to attend games for all their teams when we can.
With almost 250 teams in the Championship, we can not guarantee that we will
be able to make special scheduling adjustments like that.
