Each
year Florida Challenge Sports Events awards college scholarships to
high school seniors. Awards in the amount of $400 are made to high school students
who demonstrate a high level of
cooperation, sportsmanship and fairness in athletic
competition, academics, and other aspects of their lives.
Any
student who has
participated in a Challenge Soccer Tournament either as a player, referee or
volunteer is eligible to apply. Print a scholarship application by clicking on
the link above. Scholarship entry deadline is May 10.

Andrew Brooks, a graduate of Satellite
Beach High School, Caleib Lynch, a graduate of Merritt Island High School,
James Watson Powell, a graduate of Apopka High School and Katrina
Stackhouse, a graduate of Melbourne High School, were named as recipients of
the 2007 Challenge Sports College Scholarships, awarded by Florida Challenge
Sports Events, Inc. of Melbourne Florida. The Scholarships were awarded
based on demonstration of sportsmanship and fair play in athletic
competition, academics and other aspects of life.
Andrew and Katrina will attend the
University of Central Florida in Orlando FL. Andrew will major in Business
and Katrina will study Clinical Health Sciences. James will attend Rollins
College in Winter Park FL and study Music. Calieb will attend Florida
Institute of Technology in Melbourne FL where he will major in Business
Administration. Each will receive $400 toward tuition, books, or room and
board for the 2007/2008 school year.
Other outstanding applicants who were
finalists in the selection process were Ashley Haas of Rockledge High
School, Rachel Morris of Astronaut High School, Kaitlin Hardcastle of Cocoa
Beach Jr/Sr High School and Lindsay Wainikainen of Palm Bay High School.

winners of the 2005 Challenge Sports Soccer College Scholarships, awarded

two winners of the 1999 Florida Challenge Soccer Tournaments College
Scholarships, awarded by Florida

Both students will attend the University of Central Florida and will each

year. Megan Moyer, a 1998 Florida
Challenge Scholarship winner currently attending Brevard Community College, has
been re-awarded her Florida Challenge Scholarship for 1999 due to matching funds
available to BCC from the State of Florida.
