WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
as of April 2012
Some Scholarship winners of the past and what they are doing now
April Perry
I just
graduated from FIU a few weeks ago with a major in Information Technology
and a
 Minor
in math! Currently interviewing at a few
places but still definitely on the
job hunt! As for soccer at FIU, I played all four years, was selected to be
Captain my junior and senior year! When I came in as a freshman we hadn't
made the Sunbelt Conference tournament in many many years! And since my
freshmen class we competed in conference tournament every year, but managed
to win the season in 2012 and most exciting this past year, won the
conference tournament! I think that was like the 2nd time FIU Women's Soccer
has won in the entire history, so it was amazing! We were awarded with these
big championship rings that I still wear around so proudly :) Personally, I
had a lot of accolades throughout college but, most recently in my last
season, I made the Sunbelt All Conference First team and the NCSAA All-South
Second team! Other than that, every summer I play in the WPSL league,
currently my second year playing with and being captain of the South Florida
Strikers based in Miami! Thank you for your support and helping me in
experiencing this amazing opportunity as a student athlete with your
scholarship.

Caitlyn LeClair will
be graduating in May 2012 from UCF with her Bachelor of Science degree in
Health Science and a minor in Fitness Training. In August, she
will start school at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville for her
Doctorate of Physical Therapy.
Jason McKibben
Academics: I'm studying at the University of Florida and majoring in
Political Science with a specialty in International Relations
and am possibly going to pick up a minor in International Humanitarian Aid
and Development. Last semester, I earned a 4.0 GPA and am on track to do the
same this semester. Because of this, I have been invited to become a member
of the prestigious Golden Key Honor Society. I'm also presently working on
graduating with my undergraduate degree in five semesters and then continue
on into grad school.
Sports: I tried out for the club soccer team at UF (as they don't have a
Men's D-1 Team) and was in the top 20
players in a pool of over 150 and the coach told me to try out in the future
and we will likely have a future together. My co-ed intramural 8v8 soccer
team went undefeated in the regular season and has a first-round bye for the
playoffs. Additionally, I am in the process of trying to walk-on to the UF
football team as a place kicker and although I'm not getting my hopes up or
expecting much, it'd be exciting if that materialized. Finally, I am a
member of the Rowdy Reptiles, the official student body cheering section for
all UF sports, and I have attended at least one match for nearly every D-1
sport offered on campus.
Other: I am a member of several clubs, including the Freshman Leadership
Council, a division of Student Government at the University of
Florida and my participation in this
organization has allowed me to be a part of many charity and volunteer
services, both on and off campus. I volunteer weekly at the local Boys and
Girls Club, participated in the UF March of Dimes 5k/fundrasing, have worked
with Habitat for Humanity, participated in Project Makeover (sort of like
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition for an underprivileged school) and put on
many events for the student body on campus. This Friday, this organization
will be partnering with the St. Baldrick's Foundation to host a head-shaving
event and fundraiser for juvenile cancer research, in which I have pledged
to shave my golden locks and have thus far raised over $1100. (I'll try to
get you a picture of myself after I'm bald, and I'll look for other pictures
of my activities as well for you).
Family: Both my parents are doing well and I talk with them frequently about
everything in my life, whether it be academics, social life or my clubs. I'm
not sure what they would want posted about their
lives but I really just want to thank
them for being there for all my endeavors and showing their utmost support
in anything I try. They really are my biggest fans, my best friends and the
people who I try to model my life after and I wholeheartedly believe that
any accolades, accomplishments or opportunities I am fortunate enough to
receive are a testament to them.

Joy Powell
I graduated from Rollins College with a Bachelor in Studio Art. I was able
to play soccer all 4 years. Since
college, I have been blessed to have worked with some amazing
organizations. One of the organizations is Feeding Children Everywhere. It
is an organization that helps empower and mobilize people to help provide
food for those in need. Another organization that I work for is
Inter-United. I have been traveling
around the world with them to spread friendship through soccer, art and
music. I also have had the opportunity to paint shoes for a Tom's shoe
event. Among other things I have also started my own business, Raggamuffin,
making hand crafted items to represent a culture -

United. And now works with an engineering firm in Atlanta. He is still
very active in soccer both as a player and a coach. He has been the
assistant coach for the Melbourne High School JV Boys soccer team for
several years and has also been coaching a boys team for the Melbourne Beach
Tsunami.
