The Challenge Sports Guarantee

At Challenge Sports we understand the importance of having the most balanced competition possible as part of a positive tournament experience.  We also understand that surprise circumstances can cause a sudden change to a team's plans after entering a tournament.

For those reasons we have the Challenge Sports Guarantee for all tournaments run by Challenge Sports.  Affiliate events are not bound to honor the Challenge Sports Guarantee:

All Full Sided Tournaments Run by Challenge Sports

A team may withdraw from a full sided Challenge Tournament any time up to midnight on the 7th day after the early entry deadline.

A team that withdraws by the end of the 7th day after the early entry deadline can receive a full refund of the entry fee or can carry a credit for the entry fee forward to use at a tournament to be selected later.

A team that withdraws after that deadline will not be entitled to a refund or credit for future tournaments

Why do we have a deadline for teams to withdraw and be eligible for a refund?

The deadline is for the protection of the teams that are playing in the tournament.   If a team drops out at the last minute, there may not be a way to adjust the schedule, leaving the remaining teams with a broken schedule.   That will result in either an unbalanced path to the final, some teams playing less than the guaranteed 3 games, or both.   A good example is where a 6 team division becomes a 5 team division because of a dropout.  If a replacement team can not be found, it is possible to schedule a 5 team division, BUT because of the difference between scheduling an odd number of teams instead of an even number of teams, the schedule change will require schedule changes in other Division that use the same fields.

Those changes can create problems for those other teams who may have already planned their tournament weekend around the original schedule

If a team withdraws by the end of the 7th day after the early entry deadline, we have time to look for a replacement team, or failing that, to create a new schedule before schedules are initially posted and teams make their plans for the weekend.
