ABOUT CHALLENGE TOURNAMENTS

January 2008

______________________________________________________________

Challenge Soccer Tournaments bring positive experiences and life enriching activities to our children and help raise funds for non-profit organizations.  Sportsmanship and Fair Play, on the soccer field and in life, is our first priority.

Challenge Tournaments are managed by a company called Florida Challenge Sports Events, Inc., more commonly known as "Challenge Sports".   Challenge Sports has helped non-profit organizations raise more than $1,000,000 since the first Greater Melbourne Holiday Challenge in 1988!   Challenge Sports also offers "tournament consulting" help to soccer clubs.

Since the first Greater Melbourne Holiday Challenge in 1988, more than 1,000,000 people (from far away as Moscow, Russia) have participated in Challenge Tournaments!  In October of 1996, the Brevard Fall Challenge was introduced over the Columbus Day weekend.  In 1998 the Palm Bay Spring Challenge was introduced on the first weekend of May.  In 1999,  Challenge Sports added the Ormond Beach Challenge in January and the Melbourne Area Girls Labor Day Challenge in September.   In 2003 the Vero Beach Boys Labor Day Challenge .  Challenge Sports has held other Club fundraising full-sided Challenges such as the Treasure Coast President's Day Challenge, the Treasure Coast United Challenge, the Central Florida United Challenge, the Lakeland Spring Challenge and the Naples Shark Shootout Challenge.  In 2000, 3v3 Challenges were started!  Now there is a 3v3 Challenge TOUR, culminating with the  3v3 Challenge National Championship each summer at Disney’s Wide World of Sports® Complex!

Challenge Sports is active in community and charitable activities.  Challenge Sports has gathered soccer equipment for the children in Bosnia, provided soccer balls to local needy children, sent soccer balls and shirts to the children of Chernobyl in the Ukraine, to Honduras, China and other places in need.  Challenge Sports has participated in the Sports For Life Program, promoting a tobacco-free healthy lifestyle for young athletes.  Challenge Sports also shipped boxes of soccer shirts and equipment to soccer clubs that were devastated by the 2004 Hurricane Katrina.  Challenge Sports awards Challenge Tournaments College Scholarships each year to High School Seniors!

I hope this gives you an overall view of our CHALLENGE tournaments and that you will be able to participate in some way.  See you at the next Challenge!
